Bid - Bid Price

Definition: The opposite of Ask. It is the price at which you can sell, cover or short a particular security. Think of it as dealers, brokers and market makers bidding for your holding.

Additional Info: The Bid price will always be lower than the Ask. The difference between the two will depend on the spread set by your broker or the current market conditions. It is common practice to display the bid price on the left-hand side of a quote. i.e. 84.59/ 63 where 84.59 is the bid price.

Related Terms: Short - Ask (Offer)
