Bank of England (BOE) Interest Rate Statement

 

Definition: The Bank of England (BOE) Monetary Policy Committee releases its decision on the level of near term interest rates (base rate). Interest rates are usually raised to combat inflation and lowered to stimulate economic growth or fight deflation.

 

 

Additional Info: MPC interest rate decisions are published with commentary which gives traders an insight into the thinking behind the decision making process. Interest rate changes can have an immediate and violent effect on currency rates and share prices.
