Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CTFC)
Definition: Established
by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Act in 1974 the CFTC
is a US federal agency. Its purpose is to ensure the open and
efficient operation of the futures markets by guarding investors
from fraud, manipulation and abusive trade practices.

US President appoints five futures market commissioners (subject
to senate approval).
