FOMC Interest Rate Statement

Definition: The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) releases their "Federal Funds Rate" or Interest Rate decision eight times per year. The decision is made with a heavy focus towards controlling inflation. Rising inflation is controlled by raising rates while lowering rates can help stimulate a slowing economy.

Additional Info: Traders watch the rate announcement and the commentary very closely for clues about the future direction of the economy and possible rate hikes or reductions.
