Hedge
A hedge involves opening a position that serves to offset another investment. Often this position is in a related market or security.
The purpose of hedging is to avoid the effects of market fluctuations.
Large multinational corporations will enter the foreign exchange market to hedge against the effects that currency fluctuations could have on profits accumulated in foreign countries.
