The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
The oldest and most prestigious exchange in the US, the NYSE is home to some of the World’s largest companies such as Wal-Mart and Exxon. The NYSE is a listed exchange and is run and controlled by a board of directors.
The NYSE has seen increasing competition from the NASDAQ (an OTC exchange) due to the recent boom in the technology sector. Tech stocks (which are traditionally listed on the NASDAQ) include Dell, Microsoft, Google and eBay.
