Swing Trader
A swing trader is usually classified as a medium term trader. They tend to thrive on the price swings that occur on daily charts and hold their positions for a few days to several weeks depending on the swing. Swing trading is generally based on a strict rule based system that utilizes technical analysis.
Swing traders are less active in the market than day traders who may place as many trades in one day as a swing trader places in a month. Depending on the number of securities a trader decides to follow he or she is almost certain to be more active than a position trader or investor who may only open several positions every year.
