This reading is important because it measures the inflation realised in the Country’s largest city. Due to the fact that Tokyo is a smaller population to survey than for the national CPI this figure can be released roughly one month before the national figure. Therefore it is a leading inflationary indicator. The volatile item excluded in a separate derivative of this report is fresh food. |
